Credit Card and Debt Relief: Never a Quick Fix

Share Credit card and debt relief is the hot topic of the times, but as hot a topic as it is, it is not a dinner discussion you have with your friends and especially something you do not discuss with strangers.

Most people do not like to talk about their debt, and in fact choose to ignore it rather than facing it head on.

Many people have questions about their credit card and how to take advantage of debt relief program, but do not know where to turn.

Even though credit card and debt relief is not a discussion most people want to have, that is in fact the first step to recovering.

Talking to credit card and debit consolidation services may be a valuable first step.

They have many simple fixes that can attempted to greatly lower one’s debt, to stop foreclosures and repossessions, as well as lower interest and payments to help you recoup from your see of debt.

It also might surprise you that your situation is not unique, as they have heard stories like yours a thousand time, and have even heard stories worse than you could even imagine.

When you speak to a credit card and debt relief counselor, the first thing they will do evaluate your debt, your income, and your budget. If you do not have a budget, they will work with you to set one up, that is realistic, and falls within your financial means.

After that, their next step will be to contact your creditors and attempt to negotiate a lower payment, and restructure your debt. Finding solution of your credit card problem with debt relief process won't happen over night, but if you take the advice of the experts it can happen.

The credit counselor will then discuss the options open to you for dealing with, or eliminating, your current debt.

No creditor wants you to default on your payments, but when you do, they are left with few options. The most obvious of which is repossession or foreclosure. Credit card companies do not have that option, as the debt owed is unsecured.

Debt relief for the credit card companies comes by selling your debt off to another company, often for pennies on the dollar. This puts the burden of collection on the company that purchased your debt.

If you owe a credit card company $2,000.00, they might sell it off to a collection agency for $1,000.00. What does that mean to you?

That means you can clear your $2,000.00 debt for a little over $1,000.00 with the proper debt negotiations with your creditors before they sell it off at a discounted rate, and that’s what the Credit Councilors are trained to for you.

I know what you're thinking, I don't have $1,000.00 to pay them, and if I did, I would have made payments on the debt I owed.

If your debt reduction is substantial enough, you might consider borrowing from family or friends, so that you can get out from under that payment, as ignoring it won’t make it go away.

Sometimes you can find a relative willing to lend you money without any of the painful interest rates associated with traditional lenders. This can help you in your quest for credit card and debt relief.

The relief of the interest alone, may be enough that you can pay back your family after just a few months, rather than paying the credit card company 30% interest over several years.

Reaching a settlement with your creditors and repaying your family, can be difficult, but highly rewarding as well. No one enjoys crushing debt, but the feeling of getting out from under it is one of the greatest feelings on earth.

Credit card and debt relief, once again is not an overnight process, but in the end will be a very rewarding experience, albeit one that you will hope to never have to have again.
